Cypress is milled from widely spread natural forest areas west of the Great Dividing Range, extending from Central Queensland into south-western New South Wales.  State Forests provide the majority of Cypress.  These forests are professionally managed to sustain long term availabilty.

There are approximately 1,000,000 hectares of commercial Cypress forests, making it one of the major individual timber species available in Australia.  In fact there is more Cypress now than there was 100 years ago.

Cypress - Environmentally Safe   Our atmosphere contains "greenhouse" gases including carbon dioxide.  Young actively growing trees help to maintain the balance of atmospheric gases by absorbing carbon dioxide and storing carbon as wood.  As forests age and tree growth slows, carbon dioxide conversion declines.  In sustainably managed forests, older trees are converted to timber products such as house framing, flooring and other products - storing the carbon, while the new and remaining young growing trees will continue to extract carbon dioxide from the atmosphere.  Using building materials other timber, i.e. Steel, Masonry and Aluminium contributes to the degrading of our healthy environment.  Sustainable management of Cypress forests is based upon a natural cycle of growth and regrowth which ensures perpetual timber supplies while enriching the environment, especially the air we breathe.
